OF COURSE you don't trade a guy because it would be nice for him. You do so because you don't want to waste a guy sitting on the bench who could play every day, when you could get value for him.
Now, before you go all senile on me again, I'm not saying they should trade him, as he may provide value as a back-up. But, for the right guy, you have to consider it, as Manny sure won't be benched.
As for "zero reserve outfielders", you're assuming that the young OF talent we have can't play in reserve????? The guys I have seen are so good they don't want to sit them on the bench, and are in the minors so they can play every day. Back-up OF is hardly our biggist worry.
As for hanging onto Pierre just in case we make it to the WS so he can DH, For Pete's Sake"!!!!!
