Over .300, w/ 9 hr and rbi among the top 5. But at 3b, he lacks the name to be elected by the fans.
That's the thing about this team. It really doesn't have a weakness in the lineup (like a slick fielding SS hitting .220 or a rock solid defensive catcher hitting .210). The only out you can look for is the pitcher. Wait till Furcal gets healthy.
And that extends to the reserves -- Pierre, Ausmus, Loretta, Castro. In the long run, Martin may be getting stronger rather than fade in September because of Ausmus.
BTW, we need just one more poet on the team. We have Milton and Blake.
