UCLA closed its regular-season slate with a 27-29 record and 15-12 Pac-10 mark. The Bruins locked up a third-place finish in the Pac-10 Conference (UCLA wins the tiebreak over Oregon State, having won the three-game season series).

Teams below .500 aren't invited. Oregon St the defending National champions a year ago weren't invited with a better record than UCLA]]

It is the first game in what the Beavers hope will be a redemption season. After back-to-back national titles in 2006 and 2007, Oregon State did not receive an at-large berth to the 2008 NCAA Tournament after a season in which they finished 28-24 and 11-13 in the Pacific-10 Conference.

Your sarcasm is duly noted however.
