Yeah, as we've discussed in recent posts, if UCLA (23-22, 13-8) finishes high in the Pac-10 and two or three games over .500, with late season wins over UCI, Fullerton, and Arizona State, they've got a shot at the regionals, and once they're in, anything is possible. Arizona State (34-11, 16-5) is assured a spot. Oregon State (28-12, 11-7) has turned around their losing skid by taking a series from ASU and picking up a couple of other wins, so they should also make it in.

I'm delighted that Cal State Fullerton is doing so well after George Horton left to coach Oregon (14-31, 4-14). Of course, Dave Serrano came over to the Titans from UC Irvine, where he had put the Anteaters on the map as a baseball team to be reckoned with. Rounding out the local baseball musical chairs, former USC coach Mike Gillespie came out of retirement to replace Serrano at UCI. The 'Eaters are ranked #1, so everybody's happy with the way things worked out--except for Horton. His Ducks have played poorly this year, the first in decades since UO baseball was dropped. After Pat Casey's OSU Beavers won back-to-back College World Series, the rival Oregon Ducks decided that they should have a baseball team again. Someday perhaps they will.
