This Dodger team really takes getting used to.

Dodger stadium has always been known as a pitcher's park. But I think the best reason was the Dodgers always had better pitching than hitting. (Think about it, the Dodger hitting was actually worse than that, since they didn't have to face Dodger pitching.)

Even when they won World Serieses, they were not really great hitting teams, but certainly great pitching teams. And recently, if they fall behind, chances were they won't recover. But if they went ahead, they had the great bullpen to hold the lead. (Gagne set the consecutive saves record. I think for almost two years he didn't blow a save. And Broxton plus Saito last year were very good.)

Tonight, they fell behind, went ahead, fell behind again in the 7th, but rallied in the bottom of the inning. Wade had a great 8th, and they finally put it away.

Exciting, and I'll take the result. But it will be hard on the nerves if they are all going to be like that.

P.S. Everyone but the pitchers and Martin had a hit. Six had two hits. Six scored, and five had rbi's. Martin got the collar. I think as long as he is mired in this horrible slump (he doesn't even look like he knows what to do at the plate any more) he should be hitting where almost every other catcher hits -- eighth. Maybe that'll take the pressure off him.
