I don't want to make light of what may have been a serious incident, but at the end of the day, the police are the police and they are by their nature more than happy to find some excuse to crack down on anyone who irritates the establishment either by deed or by word, or heck, by their very presence. That's their job. It's their "reason to be" one might say.
