a long term methodic purpose. He's putting the idea out there. He's making connections between his movement and the violent word choices he uses. He's setting up the table.

He is normalizing violence by talking about it, by using the imagery. Not only Trump but the entire alt-right/MAGA/incel movement has the MO of using violent language in a jokey way, so that when they're called on it "it's just a joke" but it never is just that.

The automotive industry, the finance industry, it doesn't matter. He's building connections that bridge political violence and his movement. He's normalizing the concept of violence as a political consequence while maintaining plausible deniability. I'm glad folks are finely catching on.

Keep in mind that Bush never said Al Qaeda was in Iraq. He never said Saddam was behind bin Ladin. They used word association to get there. This is a team who knows how to use framing almost at an instinctual level.
