There are two groups responsible for the defecits. Republicans and the American people.
Repbulicans because of their insane tax cuts. You can't cut the deficit with tax cuts. You increase it.
Also, you cannot grow our way out of our deficits. Growth is not enough, even if it can help a little.
The American people: They want government services, but they don't want to pay for them. The want someone else to pay for them or to get them for free.
There is only one way to deal with the defecit. Raise taxes. Cutting spending alone doesn't work.
Personally, I want the government services and I am willing to pay for them. I WANT MY TAXES TO BE HIGHER.
