I have no sympathy for Hamas *primarily* because it is an ultra right wing organization locked into an islamist ideology. They're also known to be a highly oppressive group that leaves no room for dissent in any shape.
So I'm all in on your statement.
But ... there is an additional angle here as well: Given the non-stop nightmare that Palestinian people have been going through for decades, is this really imperative on us to condemn any group that chooses to fight Israel and the IDF through military means, using armed resistance and violence as a method -- regardless of the ideology they serve.
IOW, if PLO resurfaced in its classic form, secular, but using military methods in response to IDF's violence, should we also feel obliged to say "f*ck PLO" ... for instance. I'm not sure I would take that position with the same enthusiasm I do with Hamas. People methodically oppressed and subjected to daily violence will respond violently, after all. That needs to be factored into the concept of a liberation movement in some way.
