I don't want to say that I give tRump any credit for anything, but I would have said before this announcement that EVEN tRump wasn't evil enough to start having public executions. I was wrong.
(For the record, and this is a separate discussion, I've acknowledged I'm for the death penalty in limited circumstances and I think we actually SHOULD have public executions. We should acknowledge what we're doing and be able to defend it to everyone. We shouldn't hide it or pretend we're not doing it. Be honest. That said, this is different. tRump is absolutely beyond the shadow of a doubt doing it to placate the bloodlust of his deplorables. It's bread and circuses and nothing else. It's not intellectual honesty, it's craven bloodlust. This is not a time where nuance is generally appreciated but it matters here, a lot.)
