Trump claims he was 'enthusiastically' cheered after being booed at Knicks game
President Donald Trump seemed unfazed by the ruthless booing from New York Knicks fans during the NBA game he attended on Monday. In fact, on the way back from the game, he confidently told journalists he believed he received “cheers” rather than boos.
“What did you think of the reception you got from the Knicks fans tonight?” one reporter asked shortly after Trump arrived at an airport in New York City.
“I thought it was great,” the president began, “I mean, I thought it was amazing actually. You mean where they had the camera on me? I thought it was very good, yeah… it was certainly amazing. I think it was mostly cheers. It was loud, and it was very enthusiastic.”
Trump's response didn't quite match up to reality, however, as many witnessed him being met with a chorus of boos as he made his appearance at Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday night. The response was indeed very loud, as many attendees booed ardently while the president's image appeared on screen during the national anthem.
