He doesn't think about consequences or policy.
He didn't enter into the war with any clear goals or a clear rationale. He just thought we could blow stuff up and he could burnish his image as a strong war leader.
He doesn't really care if Iran is strengthened or weakened, if the new leadership is more militant and extreme, or if it collects tolls from shippers, or care about the Iranian people he's been bombing.
If he thinks he can walk away and sell it as a victory, he will do it. And if he's wrong about being able to sell it, he will just continue to lie.
