They're signaling that the protections they think they have under the constitution are not as strong as they think they are. This is their way of telling the press to toe the line or else.
It is an escalation and a signal. I hope journalists understand the implications better than the establishment Denmocrats do. And I hope they're all lawyered up because this is just the opening shot.
Also what I think will happen next and will go unnoticed is that all the recordings that ICE made of people protesting? Those folks will get targeted methodically by the federal government but since they are all regular people and all this will happen in a hush hush way, it will never make the news.
