In some ways, you can say that the Democratic Party leadership has been in the normative state from 2016 through maybe 2025 (hoping that these two MN killings kinda woke them up, but it's just a matter of time before Schumer says some version of "it's the economy, stupid" and Jeffries tells the representatives to stop talking about ICE), while the Republican Party as a whole has fully aligned themselves with the prerogative state at this point.
