Effectiveness of street protests in this day and age (proliferation of media, the public's selective news sourcing), in this country (half a continent shore to shore, with multiple states, each with its own concerns and interests) based on where we are as a whole, culturally (voyeuristic, delusional, morally fragmented, extremely emotional with minimal critical thinking skills, isolated in echo chambers, and all that jazz).
IOW, what worked relatively reasonably well in another era, and for all practical purposes in another culture, may not have the same impact here and now. Whether this means modifications need to be done to the format, what media environments need to be updated for more effectiveness, etc ... I think we're still trying to figure that out, in a sense.
