There was a post by the UM professor of economy, Justin Wolfers made on bluesky that I can't find now. What he was saying in a nutshell is that the people who talk about how immigration takes away American jobs are also the people who embrace automation and increase of productivity through AI. Immigration and automation both have the same type of effect on jobs. Two different ways to get to the same outcome, ad yet, they are against one of them while embracing the other. And that tells you what they're against is not exactly the loss of jobs.
