and surprisingly low ability to reason through an abstract argument. Heck I've known quite a few high school seniors in my time who could run circles around these dudes. None of those guys and gals grew up to be gazillionaires though. Some of them became academics and such.

And that's the thing. If you're really really good at something, like making ungodly amounts of money, chances are you won't be all that good at a bunch of other things, including political or theological philosophy. But because you have sh*tloads of money, you have ways to convince yourself you're good at everything. Surrounding yourself with spineless yes men who just want to get a piece of your money also helps.

What's surprising is that these modern gazillionaires who generally pooh pooh education and humanities also fancy themselves top notch thinkers even when they're so demonstrably bad at it.
