You pay 15% for a Chinese export license. Estimates are Nvidia will sell 50B in H20 chips to China. 7.5B paid to US Govt for the privilege. As a NVDA shareholder I wish it was nothing, but even with the fee it's a net positive to the bottom line.
The trend seems to be more government involvement in business (communism, as you stated it) and I am not thrilled by it. Too much picking winners and losers. I mean, how well did Obama do pumping money into solar stocks? Biden's Chip Act seems okay, so far, with the exception of Intel.
The one govt/business deal that really raised the eyebrow was the DOD investing 400M in MP. Sure, it's rare earth minerals, but taking an equity position seems problematic.
Anyway, I see the govt getting mixed up with businesses as growing into the future. They already pumped nuclear and quantum computing is next up.
