If you've never heard of them, they are a band that was mostly active between the 90s and 00s, who I believe flew under most people's radar during that period (I know I completely missed them) but ended up being one of the most original, fascinating, and influential acts of the decade. They went on an extended hiatus in 2008, and their last album was a delayed release in 2010.

"Instant Holograms on Metal Film" (they're so good with album titles and album artwork) has a couple of spots early on that make me wonder if they'd lost a step, but no. The rest of the album is right back in the groove, tapping right into their usual mixture of krautrock (think Can) 60's French pop (some yé-yé action), quirky pop experimentation, and a touch of light psychedelia.

I still kick myself for missing out on these guys in the '90s. Them, Broadcast, and Massive Attack ... to my profound shame.
