Pushing black folks to bottom wage jobs that they feel they should be grateful to get.
That prison labor thing is another way to get there. Mass incarceratins have been argued to be a form of creating enslaved population. I'm not against prisoners working and acquiring new skills perhaps, but the optics of having them work on the fields is really icky.
