4 years. All this sh*t is giving me the flashbacks of a military coup I had to live through as a 17 year old, and the years of martial law that I had to navigate. I have no confidence that if I somehow cross paths with the police and someone takes me in, they will be inclined to believe that I'm a citizen and I have every right to be there. Eventually, probably, after I've hired a lawyer and unnecessarily paying some professional so that I can go home.

The sense that I am a citizen and as such, I have rights that can't be taken away from me is not a concept that's ingrained in my head. I will have to do international travel in the fall to visit my mom and I'm kinda stressed out about that too.

Just being honest. These rights that you speak of are the kinds of things I tend to look at with a skeptical eye. Deep inside is the feeling I can't dismiss that those rights are for you folks and don't apply to me. At least not immediately.

The mrs will be there though. She's gonna represent.
