I was just at a reunion. The state of the country was a frequent topic.
One of my college roommates has a "friend" who's a Trump supporter who was recently appointed as a US Attorney. He wants to stay close to this "friend" because he provides a "unique insight" into the mind of a MAGAt.
I personally want nothing to do with a Trump supporter. Or a Holocaust denier. (Often, they are one and the same.)
I see the virtue, in retrospect, of legislators who maintain ties across the aisle. It's a big part of their job. We hire them to do this odious task so that we don't have to. You would have to give me pretty big benefits to put up with the ugliness of typical Republican soul. Can you imagine having to interact with MTG? I'm sure you can...just look at ccrap2. No one's idea of "fun."
So deal killers for me regarding "friends" are: Trump supporters. Nazi sympathizers. Right wing extremists, aka, Regressives who want to take us back to the Dark Ages as a society. There's some overlap here, no doubt. Just trying to cover the bases.
I have friends who are "conservative" in nature, which i think places them right of center in today's American spectrum.
I put this prompt into ChatGPT and got a very useful response: "What are the key dimensions that differentiate liberals and conservatives in America?"
I have a couple of quibbles with some ChatGPT assertions about liberals, but for the 90%+ of the time, I agree with ChatGPT's call on the matter.
what are the deal killers for you in your life?
