I do have a more cynical view of some of these groups you mention so maybe I wasn't prone to think that they would be on the side of democracy in the first place, but I agree wholeheartedly wrt the big media. They completely failed their self-interests by not realizing what kind of oppressive future they were contributing to because they couldn't stop seeing dollar signs every time Trump attacked someone or some institution. Classic short term gains blinding organizations to long term losses situation.
I didn't have much belief in big law, law enforcement, or CEOs to begin with. I'll stay neutral on faith leaders because there are all kinds of them out there. Courts? I'm also a bit skeptical that the thing they had to work off of was all that much democratic to begin with.
The other institution that I'd say completely failed us was univerisities. They lost their sh*t when a bunch of kids stood up for Palestinian civilians. They were once again, afraid of short term pain that blinded them to the long term losses that eventually got inflicted on them. At some level, I don't think many universities quite understood how free speech works.
It's like the word "duty" has been vaporized from our national vocabulary.
Preach, brother!
