Oddly enough, political comedy does not give me the same

kind of joy anymore. Not that I don't find humor in bad situations. I'm the kinda guy who would crack at least one joke as he's facing a firing squad, which is something that helped keep my sanity over the years in weird situations.

But now ... the political humor I see on SNL or the Daily Show has stopped speaking to me, for some reason. It's that awareness that nags at me that we laughed our way into this mess. That thing I'd been saying "the first time was a farce, the second time will be a tragedy", and the way that's coming true ... Maybe I'm sensing that the humor I see in those shows is still not humor that grows out of desperation, but has as its operating logic, that there's a normal that we're going to snap back to only if we can keep the laughter going.

I dunno. I'm at a funky place wrt political humor these days, that's all I can figure out at this point.
