brought up only 3 of NW's opponents, how'd NW do against their other 3 opponents:
--Indiana average ppg 36.6/Points v NW 29;
--Michigan State 21/21;
--Penn State 28.7/13.
I don't think NW's defense is as good as UCLA's. But...I do think it's better than the 84th best defense as you stated using only 1 metric, total defense. Fyi, Army has the same total defense ranking as NW, 84th. But their scoring defense, like NW's, has a much lower (better) ranking, ranked #40 allowing only 20 ppg.
