I have a bad feeling about tomorrow’s game. While I’m delighted with our 3-0 record, and feeling optimistic about the team’s future under the leadership of CBC, I’m fearful that our offense won’t suffice to overcome our obvious defensive weakness in our first conference away game of the season.
We’ve averaged less than one turnover per game, including zero fumbles. Much as I’d be thrilled to see that streak continue, I can hardly complain should the team commit one fumble in four games. The thing is, when a team is as reliant on its offense as is ours, that one fumble (or pick) could easily spell the difference between victory and defeat.
Then there’s the penalty situation, coupled with our suspect defensive secondary. Maryland is averaging 330 passing yards per-game. Malik Washington has only been sacked 3 times this season. What’s the over-under on P.I. and defensive holding calls against us?
I still think we’re capable of winning tomorrow’s game, but I’m having difficulty believing we’ll continue to be able to outrun our susceptibilities.
