The year was 1954. It was also a night game at the Coliseum. Red Sanders was the coach. Bob Waterfield and Bob Davenport the backs in the Bruin unique single wing offense. My eight-year-old self was hooked when the Bruins serpantined out of the huddle, their gold helmets gleaming under the bright stadium lights.
