I acknowledge that UCLA needs to improve its standing in college football. And as soon as possible.
But that factor alone doesn't put W's in our column.
That's simply an illogical argument.
My argument is that Chesney's been given a tougher assignment than people are recognizing. And while there are many positive variables, there are plenty of negatives, too. In my view, there are simply too many variables in play to take a Pollyana view that the Great UCLA Football Crisis will be erased over one summer.
Plenty of other folks on this board are picking a 6-6 season. And they are counting on a win at Cal to get there. What if we stumble out of the gate at Cal? Or against another team like Cal?
It's been known to happen.
How about a little humility?
