Yes, I agree with you that God isn't drawing up plays in his mind. Whether Mendoza said that or not, the inept tackling of the Miami players helped him score.
The guy is passionate and his thoughts were probably rambling at the time so I'll give him a break. I'm sure he feels blessed...16-0, Rose Bowl and Peach Bowl victories, Heisman winner, MVP awards, etc. His head has to be spinning off by now.
