First, I don't know how entertaining this season was compared to others. It was fine. I don't think I'd call it exceptional. It was great to see a team like Indiana do something that most wouldn't imagine, but other than that it was a decent season overall.
I still see quite a lot of issues with College Football overall, aside from the obvious no structure whatsoever over pay, obligations from members, etc. There is such an irony that all these media people talk about they want things settled on the field and don't want things to be a beauty contest. So they impliment a committee to pick the playoff teams. So obviously the rational thing is to pick conference winners first like the NFL does. Except one of the conference winners (ACC) didn't get picked and the conference winners who were ranked higher that did get picked didn't deserve to be in because they aren't power 4. Notre Dame, who isn't in any conference and doesn't have to share money didn't get picked because they lost to an ACC team ON THE FIELD and everyone was in an uproar and now we either have to expand the CFP selection or guarantee they get in if they finish top 12? People didn't like that JMU and Tulane were in and got blown out, but felt BYU should be in? Even though they got blown out twice to their conference rep during the season. I don't know how much more of a Beauty Contest College Football can be.
And quite frankly I still have concerns that ESPN is televising all the games and the SEC and the ACC fall under ESPN networks. That feels like too much can happen when CFP selections are being made that isn't right.
Personally, I felt Miami should have been in the playoffs and agree that they got picked. I didn't expect them to go this far, so congrats to them on a great run. Even if your QB hasn't been in class for 2 years. LOL. I'm also really happy for Indiana. That is amazing to see a program change dramatically.
One thing still stayed constant. Even though people had issues with blowouts in the 1st round, there was still a blowout in the Semifinals, which seems to happen every year. I think considering going to a 16 team format is a huge mistake. I would like to see the regular season still matter and every OOC game have pretty big significance. Personally, I don't really think the CFP should go past 4 teams, but am OK with 12 teams. Wish the season ended sooner. 16 teams just feels way to big and letting teams in that don't really deserve to be there, unless they shorten the season. But we all know that's not happening.
