dammmmmm, yo.
The nfl is brutal. Hired to be fired...indeed.
I get that being perennially mediocre (aka, Mike Tomlin) is the 8th circle of hell. NEVER anywhere close to good enough to win something, but not close enough to awful to get the #1 pick in the draft.
But the Bills don't seem mediocre to me...but I haven't been watching nfl super closely, i've been way more into Ucla FB for the last 6 or 7 years. This year is the 1st that I've paid far more attention to NFL ball than Ucla ball.
I was asked this weekend who my favorite nfl team is. I don't have one. I don't even have favorite players, like i do in the nba (LeBron). I follow the team that he's on.
But because of The QB School, the offensive architect/play caller has become the guy I cheer for, because it's so cool to see these guys scheme success.
The guys that really impress me are (in no particular order):
Sean McVey
Ben Johnson
Kevin O'Connell
Matt LeFleur
Kyle Shanahan (a little less than the guys above...his 7 step dropback game is just weird in this day and age...but I do love those skinny posts from Purdy and Mac Jones to the big X and Z receivers the niners have on the roster!)
I thought Liam Coen of the Jags and TLaw really clicked at the end of the year, and are a big threat next year.
So will the Bills now kick Joe Brady to the curb and clean house? I don't see anybody out there who's unencumbered who is going to significantly upgrade the Bills at the HC spot.
I guess I need to go back and watch this season's Hard Knocks to see if there were signs of what was about to go wrong :)
