"Would you prefer he said that his goal was to be a very good second-best team to USC?" MH, did you read what I posted?

It looks like the you skipped the part where I said " I love it. But, I hope Frenk is on board and they've got 10's of thousands of notepads and mugs inventoried to give out to anyone the school associates with."

Not sure how "I love it" could be misinterpreted. As far as the follow-up re: Frenk. That was sincere. I hope they are handing out swag to everyone they partner with. Because that is part of being "the school in this town." I am all for it.

And, I want to make sure the university is all for it. I don't want Chesney having expectations of the university that will not be met. I am hoping that his statement reflects a university-wide shift in how they want UCLA to be perceived in this town.

We've seen hype before. Recall the "The Dynasty is Over"?

And, apparently, within hours of each other, the incoming football coach is saying We are going to be The University in this town, and the by farrrrrrr highest profile UCLA person in the football world is saying I will never pay another dollar toward NIL. The UCLA related headlines around the time of Chesney coming on campus were not about Chesney, they were around Aikman.

Let's get it together people. I hope Coach Chesney has Troy's phone number, if not to convince him to pony up, then to convince him to quit sucking up all the UCLA related air saying "Not One Red Cent!"

At one of Chip's first press conferences, he said "I came here to win championships." A few years later Jarmond said our goal for football is "to win more than we lose. Winning is hard. Everyone is trying to win." I hope Chesney and Jarmond had a conversation about goals.

I hope the university stands with Chesney and his goals.
