Number 1: When we were picking the top 4, that all seemed to make sense. One problem was, there always seemed to be a blow out game somewhere in a Semi Finals or Finals. So then it was I guess we weren't picking the right top 4?
Number 2: Alabama got in the top 4 one year even though they weren't in their conference championship. That's a huge debate, because they now played one less game. I think they won the NC that year. Did they deserve to be there?
Number 3: The current system was set up so the P5 would have an automatic Conference Championship winner in it. Or so we thought. Everyone was good with it. I didn't hear complaints from anyone and last year, overall, people thought the system really worked well. Then the unthinkable happened, the WRONG ACC team won. No one had any issues with the current system and now all of a sudden everyone has issues with the current system and it all needs to be redone.
The thing that gets overlooked in all this is for the G5, it really gives them something to play for. Last year, UNLV came from nowhere to where they were playing to get into a CFP. Boise St. ended up being the team that got in, but it was basically a race between 3 teams at the time. I think Navy was the other team that had a legitimate shot. It helps expand the college football audience and interest and brings in more money. It's also incentive to try to get the CFP money to help get to a next level. But now the ESPN, Fox, and other pundits now want to s**t on the G5 because the wrong team won in the ACC. For all the media people, at the end of the day, the G5 theoretically takes 1 spot. So what. I'm sorry the ACC messed up your system this year.
And as far as ND is concerned, I 100% agree with.
