I don't think any coach not named Saban is going to do much for attendance right off the bat. Chip Kelly was about as big a splash as you can get and he didn't help attendance. Jedd Fisch ain't moving that needle.
UCLA has an attendance issue because the program is mired in a generation-long slump. The only thing that can fix it is some sustained success on the field. Hire the coach who gives you the best chance of success, not the guy whose name will sell a few extra tickets.
Purdue is ending up where they were predicted but how could they be any lower? Barry Odom is 0-7 in the Big 10. A PE coach could do the same. Doesn't mean he can't coach but good luck generating excitement with that hire.
Fisch is fine with me, but IMO not worth the money. He's gonna command $9-10 million a year, and will probably require a $50 million buyout if fired without cause. Plus we'd have to pay UW $10 million to get him out of that contract.
But like I said, any of the top 3 (as mentioned on the recent BROcast) would be just fine with me.
I'd rather just keep Skipper than hire Mullen.
