...and their pass rushers are slow, then yes, Ucla with Nico at QB has had some success due to improvisation.
And "QB scrambles" aren't defined plays in the playbook.
"ok, guys, 'recess hero ball' on 2...ready, break!"
"ummmm, Nico, i don't know that play. What am i supposed to do?"
"just run around like a chicken with its head cut off, while I play a game of 1-on-11 STQ with the guys from Thick Ankle U."
Yeah, "QB draw" is a real play, but Ucla hasn't called that play one time.
There have been a couple of "QB power" play calls, and "inside zone read" where Nico has decided to keep the ball.
But those plays haven't produced big gains.
The one game where he killed a team with his legs was v Ped State. And those big runs were the result of a combo of undisciplined pass rush + no spy (or, when a spy was added in the 2nd half, the spy was a 275-lb DE with bad wheels...not good, Bob!)
