so GD right.

There is NOTHING worse in football than fake enthusiasm.

I could always smell the guy's reeking of fake enthusiasm. Where does it come from? From fear. From knowing that you didn't do enough to prepare to perform. So you try to mask your ill-preparedness with bravado. With performative macho.

F*ck that, man. Put in the work, and the energy will be unleashed on the field when you make plays. And you'll make plays from the go, not in garbage time.

Show me a guy who cries at the end of a losing effort and I'll show you a guy who has regret that he didn't do enough to ace the test.

DF's "DRE" mandate scared tf out of me from the beginning because I've never seen a demand for excitement do anything but produce the opposite...in any walk of life.

How would you feel on Day One if your partner gave you a DRE mandate?

Day 30?

Day 365? See what I'm saying? Yeah...it can't be dictated.

It happens as a byproduct of other things. I'd rather have a passion to be great in my arsenal on Day One than enthusiasm. I think passion to be great is self-renewing. I can easily envision myself or a colleague or a life partner having a passion to be great on Day 365 regardless of what happened on Days 1 through 364. Intrinsic motivation is what gets things done in a sustainable way.
