Except the Bruins (the football and basketball franchises) are increasingly disconnected to UCLA (the fabulous university). The era of "college" sports is dead. The vast majority of the impactful players have practically zero interest in the university apart from their sports. As just one symptom, the 2025 Bruins' 2-deep in football is dominated (60%) by transfers.
I couldn't agree more with your "Split the Bruins from UCLA, I no longer have a football team to root for." I agree 1000%. Only as I see it, that split is already almost complete.
