Do they then use the data to make custom shoes for the players? Sounds expensive. But could be really worth it.
A lot of guys "swim" around in their shoe when they try to change direction. That loss of time and leakage of energy could be the difference between breaking a tackle or getting tackled. (Or making the tackle and missing the tackle, looking at it from the d's perspective.)
