Thought Gary Barnett would take the UCLA job after taking NW to the Rose Bowl, but he turned it down. Many thoughts Chris Peterson would be a lock and he turned it down. So I know it wasn't for lack of trying to go outside. Maybe there are reasons why people turn it down. I wasn't big on Bob Toledo at the time, but he had something special going for a while. I felt like if he could keep guys disciplined, he would have lasted much longer.

As far as the CDF hire, it was what anyone would have preferred, but what Chip Kelly did to UCLA still ticks me off so UCLA was limited in what they can do. Personally I'm a big fan of Barry Odom and him doing something at UNLV that really had never been seen in Vegas. I would have have loved that, but I don't know if he could have match that success with no time to build. I'm just in the I'll support CDF as much as I can and hope he can make things happen. In all honesty, I'm kinda pleasantly surprised this last month. Crazy thing is UCLA could legitimately be 3-1 going into a home game with Penn St.

The one thing I appreciated with Dorrell was I thought overall he tried to make the Rose Bowl more of a home field advantage. Good or bad, the home games were pretty fun on a regular basis. I'm hoping CDF and UCLA can get some of that back. It just feels like home field advantage has been missing for years.
