Again, players who showed up in 2018 are what was inherited. 15 OL with 7 true freshmen. QB was a problem too.
The 2018 team didn't tank. It was the youngest team in college football playing the toughest schedule in college football. That's being overmatched, not tanking. That you would frame it as "tanking" is meant to slander a coach you have chosen to hate for some reason. (Probably were expecting the Blur.)
From that difficult season, Chip began building the sustainable culture you see today, for 2024 at least. We'll see after that if Foster can keep it going.
UA tried to walk (ultimately paid a $67.5mm settlement) because their founder and then CEO made a deal the company's declining cash flow couldn't support. One season isn't going to cause that kind of contractual fight or anyone to agree to that sort of financial penalty. UA pulled for their own reasons, not for Ucla reasons.
Morgan Center went bankrupt despite the $67.5mm windfall. That shows how poorly managed it is. They were saved by a debtor in possession financing from Ucla which they rely upon to this day. Decades of operational, strategic and financial mismanagement culminated in that outcome. It wasn't due to a few losses on a football field. Good grief!
The business reality of Ucla football seems to escape you, but you're in good company on this board.
