Here's how you're told what to think, a Plaschke headline: "In leaving UCLA, Chip Kelly runs a selfish sneak"

Message: Chip is the villain. Hate him.

Is this really what happened? No. What really happened is Ucla didn't extend Kelly's contract beyond 2024. This is Ucla showing Kelly the door and inviting him to pass through it.

Kelly may have looked at other jobs but it appears he was not moving to any of them until at the last moment, due to events beyond his knowledge or control, the tOSU OC job popped open. He took it.

The timing wasn't his timing. If he'd had another few years on his Ucla deal, he'd have stayed. Without that, he left, as per Jarmond's design. Jarmond made this happen.

Kelly reacted to Jarmond's design, looked around and took a job to his liking. How villainous!! Light my torch and give me a pitch fork!

You're told by Plaschke, Bolch, BRO, UCLA and others to despise Kelly, so you do. You don't think about it, you don't ask if you have all or enough information to properly analyze the case. You take the opinion you're assigned and join the hoards in the shouting mob calling for revenge.

You're played, used, manipulated. And you think it's because you're a devout fan. No. It's because you don't use your head. Thinking is hard. It hurts. So you don't do it. You take instruction and you emote. That's how you ended up in the angry mob.

The mob now owns the Foster regime. I'm out. I don't own it like I did the Kelly regime, which I am happy to defend at any time.

In a few years, as the ache of mediocrity creeps into the program and the exhilaration of the mob fades away, Foster's lack of preparation for the job and his inability to execute it will be staring back at you. Own it.

Don't be assigned another opinion by Ucla, Jarmond or the Bruin media.

Public opinion was a factor in pushing Chip out. You're part of that. Be big enough to own the mediocrity which is nearly certain to now follow.
