both can be true, '78. Ben Howland drew a lot of flack for his dealings with people outside his program but i remember the father of one of our players writing he wasn't that way at all with those who were inside his program. He was open and welcoming with them - including players and their parents.

a position coach who is closer to the age of the players than the HC and some others can have a whole different persona with the players themselves than with the public, people he doesn't know, people who don't know the players as individuals, know football or what's actually going on day by day inside the program.

Thing about White is he's very reportedly very outgoing, would be a walking salesman for the program. Rees sounds like he would also. i don't know any of them but from what we've read and heard and all, my objection to Foster is he just hasn't had enough experience to make that jump from position coach directly to HC. And in this case, with a disaffected fan and donor base, trailing badly in NIL in what has been described as the NIL era of college football and donors sitting on their hands - not to mention chances not looking so hot of getting above a .500 record and the 17th rated recruiting class of 18 B1G schools for next fall (coming following the departure of nearly the entire core of last season's good defense), the idea of an outgoing, energetic HC does seem a good one
