I'd rather go with Mike Locksley from Maryland. 3 years under Saban, including a year as OC prior to being hired by MD.
8-5 his past two seasons at MD. Not spectacular, but solid. It would be a solid hire.
Back in my investing days, I had a theory that the worst thing a young company could do for it's stock price was become profitable. Prior to profitability, it's all pie in the sky potential. Once you're profitable, there are measurables. Which is the better company, the one making money or the one losing money?
Hiring a guy w/o a track record is old-timey horse trading. You don't know what you're buying.
Hire someone with a friggin' track record.
I've listed 7 guys with very good to great track records, hire one of them. And, I'd take Locksley.
If we were to hire an OC or DC that is killing it at a big school, I'd shut up. But ......
