Imo, as weird as Chip is, and as much as he hates recruiting, I don’t think there’s any way he would completely abandon recruiting and be bringing in a guy from Johns Hopkins unless there was something coming down from above. Looks to me like the Athl Dept has decided they want a pristine spotless program. If that is the case, who knows who we could get.
If the athl dept isn’t going to put crazy restraints on the coach, then there are guys out there. The problem is trying to swing for the fences. We need a proven, competent coach.
The guy at NC State has a good record and makes a couple million less than Chip. That was the first guy I found a few months ago, starting with the first decent conference , alphabetically, the ACC. Maybe there are better choices, but that guy wd be absolutely competent. Surely better than Chip has been. If we’re willing to pay $6 bills, we can find a coach as long as the athl dept
