you are aware of the massive difference in money between the B1G and the Mountain West, yes? That there isn't enough money in the Mountain West media contract to enable MW schools to operate or hope to operate at anywhere near the competitive level of schools in the B1G or SEC - or even the Big 12?
By going to the B1G, Jarmond secured his athletic department's chances to operate at a high level in the future. He was raising money to replace Chip after the ASU game but got told to stand down for now by his bosses at UCLA - the money to replace Chip and his staff just isn't there at this time - year from now could be another story. (And next year will be rough no matter who our HC is.)
We should NOT have gone MW. What we need to do is suck it up and see if we can begin to rebuild a competitive FB program starting for 2025 (once the administration can see more money with which to play, what is required to be competitive in our new ballpark and what rewards could be possible if we get to that level. Plus, it gives Jarmond a year to work donors and come up with a viable plan he can sell to his bosses
