At the atp level, the bh is almost always the more reliable side. More unforced errors come from the fh side. It's easier for a player to lose his way on his fh and get "concrete elbow" at tense moments.
There are advantages on the bh side. Disguise... when a guy closes his front shoulder, it's hard to discern which way he's going to go: line or cross. Or dropshot. Most players are better on their bh dropper than their fh dropper.
I can see the kid using his left hand when he's pulled way off the court to the AD side to put up a defensive lob, or try to hit a miracle winner up the line.
And what is he going to do at the net? Try to switch racket to volley fh all the time? No. Not enough time
I think my initial strategy v him would be to hit hard right at him. Try to jam him. Hopefully make him fumble his switch, or make him think "r or l?" Try to get a short ball I can then attack. Even better, force an error.
