The future of carriage fees skimmed by ESPN from the cable networks is the "main event". Those look headed down at some point because streaming will displace linear broadcast slowly then all of a sudden. ESPN will have less money to spend, so college football will get less.
We'll see what happens after that, but I'd guess the west coast B10 teams will lose financial incentives to be in a midwest league and will return to the west coast in another realignment.
