Where did you find the Moore number? These large payments to land a recruit only work if the kid stays. Yeah, 1mm seems nuts, but if he turns into a big time QB in year 2 or 3, it’s a massive bargain. It’s an investment in R&D in a corporate sense. If a good QB in the portal is between 1-5-4mm, then this number makes sense IF you can develop a QB.

Once athletes become employees it’s a whole different ball of wax. Can you fire kids? Fine them for missing practice and other indiscretions? Is there a flat pay scale or is it gonna be like the NFL where QB make 10-15% of salary pool and corners and LT’s and rush ends make the next highest amount? The answer is premier league with 30 or so teams and divisions below a that. The problem is I think we are running afoul of Title IX if football players are employees and there are not a relative number of female beneficiaries, but I’m hardly an expert in that area. Also does someone want to pay the wvb setter the same amount as the star QB?
