His teams didn't just lose, they often got blown out. I think he didn't use Hundley because Hundley wasn't ready, having undergone surgery to his knee during or right before fall camp and getting way behind the other QB's. Was a redshirt even that important? Hundley was not going to save him. That brawl at Arizona was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen.

He worked hard at recruiting and left some good players (though some like Barr were not well utilized under him and others like Cassius Marsh were underdeveloped). He just didn't generate enough excitement or confidence to get off the ground. UCLA looked really bad the whole time he was here. The Pistol was weird and a disaster, Chow was a bust here. Dorrell had 13-9. Mora had two 10-win seasons. I can't recall one positive about the Neuheisel era; it was just one disaster after another.
