There's every reason to be concerned about the lack of blue chip recruits in this cycle, and every poster who has pointed out the issues with non-blue-chip recruits is entirely correct. That said, we have a coach who has previously shown an ability to get good results from less heralded recruits, and I think we need to really consider that what we really need to worry about is our recruiting relative to the Pac-12. Yes, we are down this year relative to many other teams in the conference, but that seems unlikely to last as this staff gets more comfortable with recruiting reality at UCLA and the talent differential between UCLA and most of the conference opponents doesn't seem that great. If we can trust Chip to coach them up well, the talent gap may not be as meaningful in conference, and conference results are the most important.
